A lot of the people that I know, and I guess a lot of people in general seem to have this idea that you need to spend extra if you want to cook proper food that is healthy for you. This gave me an idea to start talking a series of articles that feature inexpensive super foods that are healthy both for you and your wallet, :).

Today’s spotlight falls on green beans. Green beans are also knows as string beans or in some places you might also see them referred to as snap beans. More than 130 varieties of green beans exist. My favorite source of info on food has a detailed info page on green beans which says that your average serving of this super food is rich with vitamins A, C, and K. You will also find folic acid and plenty of fiber in green beans, which will help digestion.

Now I remembered another reason why people might turn their heads on green beans, because they are freaking green, yuck. It’s not deep fried, how am I supposed to eat this. Well lucky for you there are plenty of recipes for green beans available. I personally love eating green beans stew, with chunks of pork in it. You might find some other yummy recipe for this delicious and healthy super food. Oh, and don’t forget that you can have 15oz of green beans for just a couple of $ all over the place.
