The recipe uses flaxseed, which is great for skin and coat, and a little cinnamon to help with inflammation and joint pain.
These are taste tested and dog approved!
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
2 cups wheat flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp honey
1/2 cup peanut butter
2/3 cup milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Taking a baseball portion of dough out at a time, form into a smooth ball, then roll flat to around a 1/4 thickness. If the dough sticks to the rolling pin or mat, sprinkle a little flour on it.
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and lay out on cookie sheets. Using parchment paper on top of the cookie sheets makes it easy to remove them. The dough does not spread out when cooked.
Cook for 45 minutes or until cooked through and hard. Less moisture will make them stay fresh longer, and the extra crunch is preferred by dogs. Keep the amount you can use in a few days handy in a sealed bag. The rest of the batch will keep for months in the freezer.
Makes 30 medium sized dog treats.
